When on a family vacation in the Finger Lakes, I visited an Amish Quilt Barn. They had a lot of quilts using this pattern that fascinated me. The piecing was all straight lines (aka, easy), but the finsihed effect was of curvy, swooping, non-parallel lines. I had to know how it worked, so I bought one of their quilts, and used it as a model to make my own. I now know that the pattern is called Bargello, and I'm looking forward to exploring all it's variations. I had enough fabric strips leftover to make a pair of pillow shams. I made these to fit the queen size bed in our spare room. The platform bed is my fabric stash storage space (more on that in another post). It's all hand quilted, since I hadn't yet bought my fancy new sewing machine.
