My First Quilt Show

I had 8 quilts on display at my very first quilt show last April, and I'm just getting around to writing about it now, 6 months later! It could not have been a better experience in every way. I am in awe of these women, for their artistry, skill, organization and most of all for their kindness. They have welcomed me with open arms and I am so grateful.
I participated in two guild challenges and won a prize for both! The first was a challenge to make a quilt in any size or design in red, white and blue, in honor of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The challenge was titled "Freedom of Expression", and my "Storm at Sea" quilt won 3rd place.

I also placed 3rd in the "Seasons Challenge". That challenge was to make four wall hangings of a specified size depicting each of the four seasons. Someone liked them so much she bought them all!
My "Sunshine Dreams", "Heart and Home" and "Speckled Frogs" quilts were also on display at the show. You can see photos and what I've written about all of these quilts in other blog posts.
I hope my membership in the Marathon Quilt Guild is the beginning of a long and beautiful friendship. I can't imagine why it took me so long to join!
